SEO: The Future of Marketing

By June 12, 2012December 15th, 2014Digital Marketing

The world of marketing has taken a dramatic shift as technology has become more prevalent in modern day society.  No more newspaper advertising, no more Yellowbook ads either.  The world of advertising has found a new home.  That home is on the World Wide Web.  One of the biggest reasons is because the internet has become a 24 hour marketing tool.  Anyone can pull up any company’s information at any time of the day.

However, it is not as simple as it sounds.  You can’t just create a half decent website and throw it on the internet and expect your business to take off. That’s just not how it works.  You want your website to be seen by everyone searching for the services your company provides.  The easiest way for this to happen is to launch a search engine optimization (SEO) campaign.  SEO is a tremendous tool because it levels the playing field between huge, corporate giants, and the smaller local businesses who are trying to get their foot in the door.  With a good SEO campaign, you can be one of the top dogs on Google when your services are called upon.  Some people may wonder, what the hell is SEO? This is a very valid question.  SEO is the process of improving the visibility of a website in search engines natural, organic (un-paid) search results.  SEO campaigns focus on how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience.

Statistics have shown that 80% of all clicks on Google go to the first 5 organic results.  This basically means that if you’re link isn’t in the top 5, or even on the first page, you are not generating much volume.  The more volume you have, the more clients you land, the more clients you land, the more sales you have, the more sales you have, the more MONEY you earn; and who wouldn’t want that?
